COVID-19 and Construction
We are continuing to maintain and build infrastructure for a safe and healthy Edmonton. COVID-19 will cause impacts to construction projects, as it has for many other City programs and services. We will work with our industry partners to manage these.

The City and its contractors are following the requirements of Alberta Health Services to keep worksites safe.

Construction 2020

Construction is ramping up on the streets of Edmonton.

We are advancing more than 300 capital projects in every corner of the city. These projects are critical to keeping our roads, bridges and neighbourhoods in good condition, while balancing the need for new infrastructure.

Ongoing and New Projects

Edmontonians can expect to see work on ongoing construction projects like the Groat Road Bridge, the Valley Line Southeast and early work on the Valley Line West. New projects are also starting, including the first major construction on the Yellowhead Trail Freeway ConversionStadium LRT Station and other LRT renewal projects.

Neighbourhoods and Parks

In addition, the City is moving forward with the planned neighbourhood renewal in 10 neighbourhoods including Alberta Avenue and Strathcona and major park redevelopments at Butler Memorial Park and Beaumaris Lake Open Space Rehabilitation.

Current Projects

This rehabilitation includes required replacement and repair of the mechanical, electrical and structural systems for the Muttart Conservatory.

The landscape and amenity redevelopment around Beaumaris Lake is anticipated to be complete in 2021.

This project will re-establish Jasper Avenue, from 92 Street to 109 Street, as an Edmonton main street. Completion is anticipated in 2022.

The City is improving and revitalizing 106 Street between 99 Avenue and 104 Avenue and 107 Street between 99 Avenue and Jasper Avenue.

The Master Plan will increase opportunities to experience and enjoy the park while preserving and enhancing the ecological systems in place.
