Program Status
Work to widen Rainbow Valley Bridge to 4 lanes in each direction continues as part of Stage Two. During construction, the eastbound lanes will be closed, with two-way traffic redirected onto the westbound lane.
Stage One
Stage 1 construction between Rabbit Hill Road and Whitemud Drive started in spring 2021 and was completed in 2024.
Stage Two
Stage 2 construction continues on the Rainbow Valley Pedestrian Bridge. Construction on the bridge began in the summer of 2023 and is anticipated to be completed in spring 2026.
Stage Three
Early work construction on Stage 3, which includes building the head slope fills for both the new Terwillegar Drive roadway bridge and a new separated pedestrian bridge, has been completed. Completion of the head slope fills will allow ground settlement to occur before bridge construction begins in 2026.
