From a world-class arena to new parks and an upgraded drainage system, the shape and energy of Downtown have shifted dramatically, and many exciting projects are underway.
Edmonton has seen incredible transformations in the Downtown core. Since 2015, more than $4.7 billion has been invested in downtown development. More than 7 million square feet of new buildings have been constructed or are underway across residential, office, cultural, educational and entertainment sectors.
The Downtown Vibrancy Fund supports projects that help achieve the goals of the Downtown Vibrancy Strategy’s four pillars: Downtown as a Home, Economic Hub, Destination and Safe, Welcoming Place.
The Meet Me Downtown Grant provides up to $10,000 to businesses and organizations for events, festivals and activities designed to bring more people to our downtown core.
As a supporting initiative to Edmonton’s Downtown Core and Transit System Safety Plan, the City launched the Chinatown Recovery Fund to support post-pandemic recovery projects in the Chinatown community. Funding is limited and awarded based on fund availability.
Mural projects within the Business Improvement Area of Downtown are eligible for up to $10,000 in funding. This funding can be used for consultations, artist services, paint supplies, anti-graffiti coating or other needs associated with the creation and installation of a mural.
Businesses within the Downtown, Chinatown, and North Edge Business Improvement Areas needing support with broken windows are eligible. The grant covers up to 50% of costs for eligible repairs up to a maximum of $2,500. View the to learn more.
