Starting April 10, 2023, Fort Road will be closed in both directions between 125 Avenue and 127 Avenue. During the closure, traffic will be rerouted to 66 Street (Yellowhead Trail to Fort Road) using 125 Avenue (Fort Road to 66 Street).
The project includes the widening of Fort Road to 6 lanes from Yellowhead Trail to 66 Street. Additional changes include:
Widening of the CN Rail underpass
Increased CN Rail underpass clearance by lowering Fort Road
New shared-use path on the west side of Fort Road
Improved sidewalk on the east side of Fort Road
A new industrial collector road from 61 Street to 71 Street, west of Fort Road, will be constructed including a new shared-use path and sidewalk.
Construction started in spring 2021 and is expected to take 3 years to complete.
