Storage Facility Updates

Horsehills and Ellerslie Are Open

These facilities are both open and will remain open for the rest of the season.

Poundmaker Snow Storage Site Closed Until 2026

The Poundmaker Snow Storage Site is currently closed for upgrades and is expected to reopen in fall 2026.

Environmentally Friendly Snow Removal Practices

The City takes snow removed from roads to one of Edmonton's snow storage facilities.

  • All facilities are governed by provincial and federal environmental regulations
  • Meltwater ponds have liners to protect groundwater and soil from contaminants like salt, sand, antifreeze and engine oil
