Project Overview
In September 2023, the City of Edmonton opened the Northeast River Valley Park after purchasing the land from a private seller. The City opened Northeast River Valley Park with the existing onsite amenities and created a strategic plan for the park. Two rounds of public engagement took place in 2023 and 2024 to help the project team develop the strategic plan.
This project is not funded for construction.

Project History
Public engagement took place in November and December 2024. This round of public engagement aimed to gather feedback on the project’s guiding principles, park zone and park improvements. A What We Heard report for this phase of engagement is attached to the final strategic plan, titled Appendix C.
The project team engaged with Indigenous communities alongside public engagement. Ten presentations and site tours were held for community members in late 2024.
Public engagement took place from December 2023 to February 2024. Members of the public were invited to provide information on how they currently use Northeast River Valley Park and how they’d like to use it in the future.
