Book a tour of the Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC) or a presentation for your school or group.

All programs are booked through our Learn About Waste Learning System. To view availability and register for a program, you will need to create an account and log in.

EWMC Tours

Ever wondered where your garbage, recycling and food scraps go? Join us for a unique opportunity to tour the Edmonton Waste Management Centre. These 2-hour tours provide an in-depth look at what happens to our waste and how we can work together to send less to the landfill.

Public Tours are available most Fridays, with sign-ups open to all residents
School tours and group tours are available by request

Tours are free of charge. Groups larger than 15 people must provide a bus for the tour.

School Tours

Audience: Grades 4-12

Student to adult supervisor ratio: 1 adult for every 9 students

Home School Families Tours

Audience: Home school students (ages 9+) and their adult family members or guardians.

Waste Audit (Ages 9+)

Conducting a classroom waste audit is a hands-on way for students to learn how to reduce waste! Book out one of our waste audit kits from the Reuse Centre.

Waste Warrior Academy eLearning Program

Audience: Grades 4-12/ Ages 9+/Interested Adults

Do your students have what it takes to become a Waste Warrior? Filled with activities, videos, quizzes and Waste Warrior Mission challenges, this eLearning program takes students on a journey through Edmonton’s waste system. They will learn all about the waste they produce, what happens to it, and how positive waste choices and actions protect our planet.

This program can be done at your own pace and is free of charge. It has 5 units that each take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.
