Non-residential Customers Yard Waste Changes

Beginning April 2, 2026, non-residential customers dropping off loose yard waste at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre (EWMC) will be charged a $70 per tonne tipping fee to address the processing costs associated with this waste.

Non-residential yard waste in plastic bags will be treated as standard non-residential waste, and a $102 per tonne fee will be applied. Customers will have the option of unbagging their yard waste at the EWMC.

Additionally, non-residential yard waste will no longer be accepted at Eco Stations, and these customers will be redirected to the EWMC.

Edmonton has a variety of options to drop off waste that doesn’t belong or fit in your regular garbage. This includes household hazardous waste, E-waste, bulky items, excess waste and reusable items. Drop-off locations are located across the City.

Eco Stations

Eco Stations accept items that don’t belong in your garbage cart, like household hazardous waste, E-waste and bulky items. There are 4 locations across Edmonton.

Reuse Centre

The Reuse Centre accepts a variety of items for reuse and makes them available to others at no cost. This includes arts and crafts supplies, school and office supplies, seasonal decor and much more.

Community Recycling Depots

These community, self-serve recycling depots accept recyclables from residents and small businesses.

Big Bin Events

Big Bin Events accept bulky items like worn-out furniture, mattresses and large appliances, at no charge. These weekend events are held across the city from May to September.
