Ride Transit Program Update
Ride Transit Program participants who purchased a pass in 2020 will receive a July pass, by mail, at no cost.

If you have not purchased a Ride Transit Program pass in 2020 and require a July monthly pass and/or your mailing address has changed, please fill out this form to request a pass and/or address update.

We are reducing in-person services. This includes Edmonton Service Centre located at the Edmonton Tower and other locations, which are closed. This is to protect everyone’s health and safety. Learn how you can still access services at edmonton.ca/ServiceChanges

Wear non-medical masks or face coverings when using public transit, or in other locations where physical distancing is not possible.

Please make sure you dispose of your used disposable masks and/or gloves into a waste bin. If one is not available, store your used materials in a plastic bag until they can be disposed of properly.

Fares Resume

Starting June 15, 2020, ETS will resume fare collection on buses, LRT and DATS. Customers travelling regionally are reminded to double check fare requirements for their service managed by Regional Transit partners. Customers should board the bus through the front door starting June 15.

  • From June 15 - 30, customers that have a March, April or July monthly transit pass can use that as payment. Those without a pass can use cash, tickets, valid transfers and family/day passes as payment. 2020 Winter U-Passes will also be accepted from June 15 to 30
  • From July 1 - 31, April or July monthly transit passes will be accepted, as well as cash, tickets, valid transfers and family/day passes. ETS will not be producing June monthly passes, nor doing any pass exchange

Please note: paper transfers will resume, as proof of payment, when paying with cash or tickets.

ETS is working through the details for August fare products and will share information as it is confirmed.

Refunds and Reimbursements

There are no refunds for March or April passes as customers can use their March or April monthly pass from June 15 - 30 and an April pass from July 1 - 31.

Where can I buy a bus pass now since many locations are closed?

We are doing our best to ensure sales outlets have monthly passes by mid-month. However, due to some businesses reopening sooner than others (or not reopening yet), there are unique challenges with distribution. Please check which ETS sales outlets will be receiving monthly passes. As Canada Post delivery times may vary, please call in advance to see if they have received their passes.

The Edmonton Service Centre in Edmonton Tower remains closed along with all City-operated recreational facilities. At this time, Transit passes and tickets can not be purchased at these locations.

Can I buy tickets at LRT Stations?

Yes, starting June 15, family/day passes and single-use tickets can be purchased at LRT ticket vending machines at LRT stations. Although the machines are cleaned regularly, it is recommended that you clean your hands before and after you use them to help prevent the spread of infection in our community.

Can I still use tickets or cash?

Yes, as of June 15, tickets and cash are accepted, however, monthly or family/day passes are encouraged because this minimizes contact and increases physical distancing. Paper transfers will be issued as proof of payment when paying with cash or tickets.

How is ETS safely handling transfer distribution?

The operator shields can stay up and transfers can be given. ETS is working on a hazard assessment and procedures for transfers.

Can I get a refund for my March or April pass?

There are no refunds for March or April passes as customers can use their March or April monthly pass from June 15 - 30 and an April pass from July 1 - 31.

Do fares apply to the late night supplemental service for health care workers?

Yes, fares will be collected for those booking a late night supplemental service. DATS buses are equipped with fare boxes to collect cash fare payment.

Why do I have to pay full fare when you are still providing reduced service?

Buses and LRT will continue to use enhanced Saturday schedules for weekdays and regular Saturday service for weekends until further notice.  We are working to balance stability and sustainability with all of our relaunch activities.

Fare Programs

ETS has many programs that provide reduced fare for groups of Edmontonians.

Ride Transit - The Ride Transit Program offers a monthly transit pass to eligible low-income Edmontonians at a subsidized rate of $34 or $48.50 per month effective February 1, 2020, depending on your household income. Eligibility recently expanded, so please check if you now qualify.

PATH - Providing Accessible Transit Here (PATH) provides free monthly transit passes to individuals who are homeless or are at high risk of homelessness.

Senior Annual Pass - Residents of Edmonton, 65 years of age and older qualify for an Annual Pass.

U-Pass - U-Pass provides eligible students at participating institutions unlimited travel on ETS and participating regional providers.

Edmonton International Airport (Route 747) - Route 747 is Edmonton Transit’s direct service to the Edmonton International Airport.

Attendants Ride Free - On regular ETS, any attendant with a fare paying DATS registrant can travel free. A DATS registrant must show their DATS registrant card for the attendant to travel free. On DATS, a designated mandatory attendant travels free while accompanying a fare paying DATS registrant. Children, aged twelve years and younger, of a registered user ride free of charge.

All ETS customers must pay a cash fare or be in possession of a valid transfer, ticket or pass as proof of payment. On buses, if paying with cash or tickets, you will need to take a transfer from the operator (even if you don’t need a transfer) to show proof of payment, in the event you are asked by a Transit Peace Officer or a member of Edmonton Police Service (EPS). Failure to do so can result in a fine of $250.
