About the Project
As we develop into a city of two million people, the City has a responsibility to ensure Edmonton is greener as we grow. This project aims to help establish a holistic landscape along Gateway Boulevard, aligning with the City's roadway beautification efforts and enhancing the connection from the Edmonton International Airport to the city centre.
Existing trees and shrubs will be removed and tree stumps ground down on the east side of Gateway Boulevard from 45 Avenue to 51 Avenue. The City of Edmonton values every tree. The existing trees on Gateway Boulevard are no longer healthy and must be replaced. Approximately 64 new trees with species suitable for the location will be planted after removal.
Construction is scheduled to begin early May 2026 and is anticipated to be complete in fall 2026.
