Project update - July 2025
Construction is scheduled to start in July and is anticipated to be complete in October 2025. Work will start at 66 Street and move west during the construction period, ending at 82 Street.
Construction includes building new pedestrian curb ramps at every intersection along 127 Avenue and 128 Avenue.
Pedestrian curb ramps, similar to this example, will be built at every intersection along 127 Avenue and 128 Avenue.
Traffic-calming measures will be installed around Zoie Gardner Park in the form of speed bumps and traffic-calming curbs. Additional traffic-calming curbs will also be installed in other areas throughout the project. An additional crosswalk and rapid flashing beacons will be installed at 127 Avenue and 70 Street.
Traffic-calming curbs, similar to this example, will be installed near Zoie Gardner Park and other areas in Balwin and Belvedere.
Speed bumps, similar to this example, will be installed near Zoie Gardner Park.
The green space on 127 Avenue between 78 Street and 79 Street will be reconstructed into a pocket park (a small landscaped green space with few amenities). This park space will feature naturalized planting to assist with noise reduction and new deciduous tree planting. No spruce or pine trees will be planted in order to maintain existing site lines.
Temporary traffic, parking and pedestrian restrictions will be in place as construction moves through the project area. Restrictions will be removed as the various elements are completed and crews move to the next area. No street closures are anticipated during the project.
