During this time (unless otherwise indicated), Capital/Metro Line trains will run every 20 minutes. This will result in a 20-minute frequency between Churchill and Clareview, and between Churchill and NAIT. Frequency will average every 10 minutes from Churchill to Century Park. Metro Line trains will run between Century Park and NAIT every day during this time frame.
Our 40+ year-old LRT network needs upgrades and maintenance to ensure it keeps serving Edmontonians for another 40 years and beyond.
TLC for LRT was created to help you effectively plan your commute. TLC for LRT projects include upgrades to LRT stations, infrastructure and tracks.
Most maintenance work is scheduled when there is generally lower ridership (evenings/weekends) to help minimize service disruptions to transit riders. However, there will be some weekday and/or long-term changes to help accomplish some projects.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are continuing to maintain and improve our city through infrastructure renewal.
We are closely following the most recent guidelines and recommendations set by the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health and are taking extra steps to ensure the places where we work are safe, sanitary, and provide proper physical distancing.

Upcoming TLC for LRT Notices
During this time (unless otherwise indicated), Capital/Metro Line trains will run every 15 minutes until 10pm daily. This will result in a 15-minute frequency between Churchill and Clareview stations, and between Churchill and NAIT stations. Frequency will average every 7.5 minutes from Churchill to Century Park stations.
After 10pm, trains run every 20 minutes.
Metro Line trains will run between Century Park and NAIT stations Mondays-Saturdays until 10pm during this time. After 10pm and on Sundays, Metro Line trains run between Health Sciences and NAIT.
On April 2, work began on the removal of the elevator at Stadium Station. The elevator is being replaced with ramps to enhance accessibility at the station; crews are prioritizing this work and ramp access to the Stadium Station platform is expected to be available by this June.
Starting 5am on April 5, a shuttle service will be provided between Stadium and Coliseum. If you need to use the shuttle, please call or text 825-993-0555.

The stairs and escalator that connect the underground concourse to the Stadium Station platform will remain open.
Please note: during the partial LRT closures, transit customers will use LRT replacement buses instead of the shuttle.
If you would prefer to use regular bus service, take bus routes 2, 3 or 101.
Upcoming TLC for LRT Projects
Over several years, crews will be intermittently completing platform renovations across our LRT system. This work will involve replacing platform warning tiles (the rumble strips at the edges of platforms), and demolishing and rebuilding sections of platforms that require renewal.
From April-July 2021, platform renewal work will be completed at South Campus/Fort Edmonton Park Station.
In 2020, we upgraded platforms at McKernan/Belgravia and Coliseum stations.
We’re revitalizing one of Edmonton’s original LRT Stations! The Stadium LRT Station Redevelopment will address aging infrastructure that has been serving Edmonton for over 40 years. Construction began May 2020 and is anticipated to be complete in 2022.
Improvements include an additional platform, new heated shelters, new public washrooms and a new security office. This work will also involve renovating the entire station building, including the roof canopy, and removing the underground concourse.
In 2020, crews started demolition of the station building and construction of the new platform. In 2021, construction continues on the two new pedestrian crossings and on the new platform, while work will begin on the new overhead canopy.
In 2020, we replaced the overhead catenary system (OCS), also known as the wiring above the tracks, on the Capital Line between 92-95 Street south of Stadium Station. The OCS provides power to the LRT cars. For this project, the height of the OCS is being adjusted to meet new standards.
We are upgrading eight LRT crossings along the Capital Line. This work includes:
- Replacing road gate signal systems
- Adding pedestrian gates
- Replacing and widening sidewalks to make them more accessible
Upgrades to six crossings have been completed at 82 Street, 92 Street, 95 Street, 112 Avenue, 115 Avenue, as well as the pedestrian crossing at Health Sciences/Jubilee Station. Future/ongoing locations include 129 Avenue and 66 Street - 125 Avenue.
Through this work, crews will complete improvements to the tracks, tunnel structures, infrastructure, signalling and more.
