Project Update - March 2020
Thank you to those who shared their feedback at the community drop-in event on November 6, 2019. The feedback received at the event, as well as by phone and email to the Project Manager by December 5, 2019, is now summarized in the What We Heard report.
The investigation of some alleys that were not initially included in the Delton Alley Renewal project scope is ongoing. If work to improve these alleys is going to occur, residents and property owners will be notified through a construction bulletin.
About the Project
Alley renewal involves alley reconstruction and repaving, improvements to surface drainage wherever possible, and upgrading existing alley lighting to LED fixtures. It also includes the opportunity for a local improvement to add alley lighting if property owners are interested.
Delton was chosen for alley renewal in 2019/2020. Earlier in 2019, EPCOR Water began renewing some alleys in the neighbourhood after completing their underground utility work. The City and EPCOR Water will be coordinating to reconstruct the remaining alleys that require water main renewal and those that are in poor condition in 2020.
Pruning and removals were completed over the winter to make room for construction equipment. Construction timelines and details will be available in the spring, and a notice will be sent to residents between May and October prior to construction starting. Residents can expect their alley to be inaccessible for approximately 4 weeks during construction.
