Birthday Parties
Throw a party that will go down in history! Our pioneer-themed birthday parties will have you baking on a wood burning stove, making fun crafts and having a good ol' time.
Birthday parties are available year round, but space is limited.
- We recommend parties be booked at least 6 weeks in advance. Book early to avoid disappointment!
- Payment for the program must be made at the time of booking.

Description
Children will have a great old time trying on old-fashioned costumes and playing party games of yesterday. They'll bake delicious cookies (gingersnap or sugar), make a craft (beeswax candle or puppets) and try their hand at pioneer chores such as washing Mr. Walter's wool socks or carding wool.

Join us for a tea party to celebrate your birthday! Party like it’s 1901 and learn about tea traditions from around the world. We’ll make a sweet treat, mind our manners as we play some games, and dress-up for a fancy lemonade tea party. You’re sure to have a tea-riffic time!

Program Length Overview
- The first portion of your booking is 90 minutes of activities guided by your human history interpreter. This includes a baking activity and a craft activity of your choice.
- The second portion of your booking is 1 hour of time for you to spend in your party room eating and opening presents. During this time, we ask that you are respectful of the house as our guests and cautious around our delicate artifacts. An interpreter will be in the house at all times.

Note: This is a request form only and not a reservation confirmation. A member of the bookings team will be in contact with you to answer your request and/or confirm your reservation.
- All fees must be reserved and paid in full at the time of booking
- No refunds will be accepted once the booking has been placed
- Program dates and times cannot be booked or held until payment is received
Party Cancellation Policy
You are required to provide written notice of cancellation of the birthday party via email at artsattractionsbookings@edmonton.ca.
- Programs cancelled with 30 days notice or more will not be charged the program fee or cancellation fee
- Programs cancelled with 8-29 days notice are subject to be charged 50% of the program fee
- Programs cancelled with 7 days notice or less, the full program fee will be charged
Programs run rain or shine. In the event of poor weather, you must email artsattractionsbookings@edmonton.ca if you are not coming.
If you're looking for a location outside the normal hustle and bustle of the city, John Walter offers you a small but intimate option for your dinner functions, corporate events or meetings.
