City Hall tours are offered to all ages by knowledgeable tour guides who cater to individual groups' needs.
Guided public and school tours are available, providing an insightful journey through the building's history, architecture and civic functions.
For those unable to visit in person, virtual tours offer a comprehensive and accessible alternative, allowing individuals to explore City Hall from anywhere.

Please note:
- Tours will start promptly at the start time
- Each booking group accommodates up to 30 participants to ensure quality for all participants
- Requests for tours must be made at least 2 weeks in advance
- Bookings may change with little or no notice based on City priorities or conflicting activities occurring within City Hall
- An email will be sent to request dates and times
- Submitting an application does not imply that the booking request is confirmed
During a school tour at City Hall, students will gain a better understanding of how their local government works and experience first-hand what happens at City Hall.
They will be led through an interactive tour of this unique, award-winning building to see where some of Edmonton's important decisions are made. A highlight of the tour is a visit to Council Chambers where students may even have the opportunity to observe council at work!
Important to Know
- Tours are offered to all grades and can be tailored to the requested needs and interests.
- 1-hour Mock Council sessions are an optional addition to the tours.
- In some cases, Mock Council sessions have to be cancelled due to meetings booked in the River Valley Room. We will work with you to find a solution if this occurs.
- City Hall Tours Guides do not speak French. The tour will be in English. You can lead your class through their Mock Council in French.
- Our tour and Mock Council sessions align with the Grade 6 Social Studies outcomes, ensuring broad coverage of the values, skills and processes outlined in the Alberta Education Program of Studies.

Accessing City Hall
Access City Hall through the southwest and southeast entrances. Visitors can expect a security screening and bag check.
The building is fully wheelchair accessible, with conveniently located elevators ensuring that everyone can navigate and enjoy all areas of the facility.
