Neighbourhood Renewal is now complete in Strathearn.

About the Program

Neighbourhood reconstruction is a type of neighbourhood renewal that involves road reconstruction and repaving, as well as replacement of street lights and reconstruction of sidewalks, curb and gutter. Alley renewal is not part of neighbourhood reconstruction.

It also includes the opportunity for 2 local improvements, sidewalk renewal and decorative streetlights.

Project History

Construction Notice - April 2018

Neighbourhood Renewal is scheduled to begin in Strathearn the week of April 30. Please anticipate that the duration of construction in front of your residences may be up to 12 weeks (weather dependent).

The construction consists of removal and replacement of public sidewalk, curbs and gutters, reconstruction and paving of the road.

Meeting Three

On Tuesday January 17, 2017 City representatives presented detailed information regarding the final design including pedestrian and cycling improvements, what to expect during construction, and the local improvement process for the Strathearn neighbourhood renewal project.

*Updated February 17, 2017 - The plans for Strathearn's neighbourhood renewal have been revised based on feedback received from residents at meeting three and additional technical information becoming available. The revisions are specific to the alignment of the shared-use path north of Strathearn Crescent, and connecting the shared-use path to Connors Road on the west side of the neighbourhood.

Meeting One

On October 5, 2015 the Building Great Neighbourhoods team met with the Strathearn Community League Executive to share the City’s plans to renew and replace sanitary and storm sewers, reconstruct roads, curbs and sidewalks on City-owned property, and replace street lights, starting in 2017.
