Malmo Plains has been chosen for neighbourhood renewal beginning in spring 2021 with anticipated completion in 2022.

Project Update - January 2020

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Exploring Options and Trade-offs Public Engagement Event on Tuesday January 28, 2020.

At the event, the project team presented design options, along with associated benefits and trade-offs, that are being considered for the neighbourhood. The design options included traffic calming measures, sidewalk and crossing enhancements, bike facilities in the neighbourhood, and park and open space improvements.

Event summary

The feedback gathered will be used, along with technical requirements and City policies and programs, to develop a draft design for your neighbourhood.

About the Project

The Neighbourhood Renewal program will rehabilitate roads, replace street lights, curbs and gutters, repair sidewalks, and connect missing sidewalk links where possible. Other opportunities to improve parks and public spaces will also be explored.

Cost sharing opportunities will be made available through the Local Improvement process for sidewalk reconstruction and decorative street light upgrades in the neighbourhood. Arterial roads and alleys are not included in the scope of work.

A series of public events will be scheduled by the project team which will give residents the opportunity to build a project vision and guiding principles together and provide regular feedback on the different stages of the project including design.
