Fireworks can be extremely dangerous and disruptive to individuals, property and the environment if not used or handled correctly.
Only professionals (Natural Resources Canada certified) with an approved fireworks permit issued by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services are allowed to use fireworks in the City of Edmonton.

- The person to whom a fireworks permit is issued shall comply with all conditions outlined on the permit.
- A copy of the permit must be on-site during use and presented to officials upon request.
- An approved fireworks permit is only valid for one event.
- Work with a Fire Prevention Officer to pre-approve the site for your community or public event.

Failure to comply with all applicable codes, regulations, bylaws, and permitting surrounding the use of fireworks within the City of Edmonton is illegal and subject to enforcement which can include fines of up to $10,000.
Criminal charges can also be laid depending on the circumstances which can result in a criminal record, fines, and the possibility of jail time.
