You can lead the enhancement of neighbourhood and district parks through a joint effort between a community organization and the City of Edmonton.

It Starts With You

As residents and community groups, the City believes you know your community best. With the knowledge, skills, lived experiences and assets within your community, we’re here to support you in coming together and achieving positive change.

We can see Edmontonians empowered and engaged in fostering Edmonton as a connected, inclusive, and livable city.

Starting a Community-led Project?

Are you a community group getting ready for a project on City parkland, but need to know how to begin the process?

Start by filling out our proposal form. Our City liaison will reach out to you to provide more information about the next steps. Please note that this form requires a Google account. If you do not have one, contact communityprojectproposal@edmonton.ca for more information about submitting your proposal.

Community Group Led Process Manual

We offer non-profit organizations a step-by-step manual for developing or redeveloping neighbourhood amenities.

Public Monuments

A public monument can be defined as a statue, plaque or any other physical asset placed on public land intended to observe a person, people, event, culture or part of nature.

Public monuments add to public spaces by representing community values, celebrating diversity, and remembering history. Community groups with ideas to develop a public monument on City parkland or open space must follow the Community-Led Construction Process.

We invite community groups to submit a proposal form to start the process. Exploring the proposed monument’s impacts on the land and community will help the City understand the idea’s purpose and evaluate its value for Edmontonians, and how it aligns with City policies.

Storage and Structures Site Planning and Design

A storage or accessory structure’s primary purpose is to support the programming of a park or open space. You can access our Guide for Site Planning and Structural Safety to get guidelines for aesthetic design and requirements for permitting and approving storage and accessory structures.

We offer workshops and education sessions about our programs for groups and organizations.
