Since 1995, Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) has operated the annual ETS Stuff a Bus campaign with its partners to help people who rely on the food bank during the holiday season. Each year, in late November or early December, ETS buses and Transit Peace Officer cruisers visit Edmonton Save-On-Foods locations, where volunteers collect non-perishable food and cash donations for Edmonton's Food Bank.
In 2021, over 23,000 kilograms of food was collected at Save-On-Foods locations and $6,500 in cash were collected through online, text and check-out donations.
ETS Stuff a Bus has collected over 553,000 kilograms of food and $496,000 in cash donations since inception to help feed Edmontonians in need. This campaign also supports the Strathcona Food Bank (with Strathcona County Transit) and Parkland Food Bank.
ETS thanks all of its partners and the Edmonton community for their generosity in helping drive out hunger.
This year’s ETS Stuff a Bus runs from November 24-28. People can:
Stuff a bus, train or a peace officer cruiser with non-perishable food donations. ETS vehicles will be on-site at participating Save-On-Foods locations. A decorated LRT car will be at Clareview Station from 9am-4pm on November 28.
People are required to adhere to Alberta Health Services guidelines when dropping off food donations. Please follow on-site signage.
To promote physical distance, no cash donations will be collected on site this year.
Donate $2, $5, $10 or more at the checkout counter at Save-On-Foods
If you’re unsure what to donate, high demand items for Edmonton’s Food Bank include pasta/pasta sauce, canned soups, canned fruits & vegetables, canned beans with or without pork, canned fish & meat, baby formula, school snacks and small peanut butter jars.
