The City of Edmonton is a central booking agent for gymnasiums in all City of Edmonton Recreation Centres and within the Edmonton school system. We offer various services to assist with your gymnasium rental needs.

How to Book

Submit a request form:
- The 2024/2025 season has now concluded. Applications for the 2025/2026 season will open in early September.
- Please submit the 2025 Summer Request Form for City of Edmonton Gymnasiums.

All booking requests will be responded to on a first-come, first-served basis.

For any inquiries regarding School or City of Edmonton gymnasiums, please email gymbookings@edmonton.ca.

Joint Use School Gymnasium Bookings

The Joint Use School Gymnasium rates are available on weekdays from September to June. School Board Gymnasiums are closed for July and August.

All weekend time requested starting in September will be charged the Weekend and Tournament/Competition Rate. Groups will be required to book a minimum of 3 hours, or adjust their booking to precede or follow an existing booking. Groups may be asked to adjust their booking in order to accommodate staffing at school facilities.

Tournaments

We offer access to gymnasiums for sport and recreation related tournament/competition events.

Tournaments are subject to School Board/Facility approval and as long as they do not disrupt other bookings, programs and events already in place.

The application form for tournaments during the 2025/2026 season has now closed. Applications for the 2026/2027 season will be made available in spring 2026.

Allocation

Allocation is the division of the amount of time/space of a bookable area and how it is shared amongst all User Groups that qualify in each of our booking areas.

Allocation for 2025/2026 will begin in March 2025.

All User Groups must meet the following criteria:

Have used a minimum of 18 hours in either School or City of Edmonton gymnasiums in the previous year
Currently in good standing with the City of Edmonton
Generally have a minimum 75% City of Edmonton residents
Generally have a minimum of 12 participants per booking

For use of school board facilities under the Joint Use Agreement, User Groups must be one of the following:

A City-sponsored or operated program/group
A registered not-for-profit organization under the Societies Act of Alberta, OR A non-registered informal organization or group without paid leadership

Groups that have not qualified for allocation are welcome to request time beginning in September 2025.
