Public Engagement - March 2019

The City held public engagement sessions on March 5 and 9 and online engagement until March 16 to gather feedback on the concept planning study for:

  • The removal of the signalized intersection at Yellowhead Trail and 66 Street
  • The closure of other nearby accesses
  • How the roads in the area are used today, and
  • How the roads might be used in the future

Event Materials

As part of the public engagement process, we are committed to reporting back on how your input was collected and used. A report detailing public engagement will be available in Spring 2019.

About the Project Area

The City has launched a concept planning study for the removal of the signalized intersection at Yellowhead Trail and 66 Street and the closure of other nearby accesses to Yellowhead Trail and area properties.

The study will also:

  • Determine how these changes affect traffic operation of the road network in the study area
  • Provide new roadway network solutions
  • Review locations for future pedestrian and cyclist connectivity opportunities

A concept plan for the area surrounding 66 Street was completed in 2012, but did not include plans for the 66 Street intersection.

Where We Are Now

Concept planning for the roadways between 82 Street and 50 Street, including the Yellowhead Trail and 66 Street intersection closure, started in late 2018.

Public engagement is now underway. It is an important part of concept planning to ensure an understanding of area needs and possible impacts of roadway changes. Public feedback will help inform the development of the concept plan for the area roadways.
