Family Violence Prevention Month Proclamation Event

‚ÄčNovember is recognized as Family Violence Prevention month.

Each year, the City of Edmonton, the Government of Alberta, hundreds of communities and thousands of individuals across Alberta are involved in preventing family violence by providing public education and services.‚Äč

Event Details

Domestic Abuse High Risk Team (DAHRT)

DAHRT is a partnership between social workers from City of Edmonton Citizen Services and Edmonton Police Service. The team:

  • Contacts victims after there has been a police report of domestic violence
  • Assesses risk and provides safety options and support to victims
  • Makes recommendations to the court for bail and sentencing
  • Partners with other agencies to assist victims
  • Family Violence Resources

Family Violence Support Groups

  • Free registered and drop-in groups for those who have experienced control or violence in an intimate partner relationship
  • Free childcare provided during groups
