Travel to School on ETS: A Beginner's Guide is a handy guide for parents, students and youth of all ages interested in learning how to use Edmonton's local transit system.
Children five and under ride free while they are accompanied by a fare paying passenger. Adults travelling with children age 12 or under should consider an ETS Day pass, which allows up to 4 children aged 12 or under accompanied by an adult to ride ETS all day. ETS operators do not carry change, so if you plan to pay cash, please have the correct amount.
For children 6 to 17 years of age, regular cash fare is required unless another ETS fare product are used (Youth Ticket, Youth Monthly Pass, or a Day Pass).
Tickets are discounted when purchased in strips of 10; and can be purchased at any ETS Fare Outlet, ETS Online Store or LRT Ticket Vending Machine. Youth and Seniors are offered the same discount on tickets. Youth/Senior tickets are only valid for use by patrons 17 years or under, or 65 years and over. Proof of age or student status may be required by transit staff when using a Youth/Senior ticket.
Youth Monthly Pass
The Youth Monthly Pass allows an entire month of travel on regular ETS service for persons under 18, or students up to their 20th birthday if they have current student ID.
During the regular academic year (September to June), we recommend that students purchase their monthly passes from the school they attend, since local Edmonton Catholic (ECS) and Edmonton Public (EPSB) school board sell the passes to students at a discount and students can only obtain the discount through purchase at their school.
Proof of age and/or current student status must be presented to transit staff upon request, by any person using a Youth Monthly Pass.
Use tickets and save!
Note: Expiration date is printed on each ticket.
Use of Yellow School Bus Pass on ETS
Edmonton Transit also permits limited use of the Yellow School Bus Pass on our system. Each Yellow Bus Pass holder is allowed six (6) trips per month on regular transit service for travel prior to 8pm. The Yellow Bus Pass must be punched by an Operator at the location marked on the pass, which is considered payment of one student fare. The student should receive a valid transfer for 90 minutes of travel; this is permitted for the pass holder only.
