Fire Rescue Services
Branch Mandate
Fire Rescue Services helps make Edmonton a safer city by protecting life, property and the environment. We are on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to respond to emergencies. In addition to frontline operations, Fire Rescue also engages citizens with fire prevention programs and public education initiatives.
Fire Rescue has been an accredited agency with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International since March 2010.
Branch Services
Fire Rescue Operations
Fire Rescue Operations responds to emergencies in Edmonton, including fires, medical events, technical rescues, and hazardous materials events. Fire Rescue Operations also provides specialty operations and pre-incident planning programs.
Office of Emergency Preparedness
The City of Edmonton's Office of Emergency Preparedness was established in 2002 to ensure that the City is prepared for, and can respond to and recover from a disaster.
Public Safety
Public Safety provides fire inspections and investigations, public education, fire prevention, and FRS/EPS partnered arson investigations. Public Safety is also responsible for environmental management and the Quality Management Plan (QMP).
Training and Logistics
Training and Logistics facilitates the training, E-learning, recruitment, logistical planning, and joint health and wellness for Fire Rescue Services. Training and Logistics also coordinates the facilities and protective equipment, and the Fire Rescue fleets equipment.
Technical Services
Technical Services manages all Emergency Response Communications, call evaluations, dispatch services, mapping, fire accreditation, partnership agreements, environmental programs, and public safety technology.
