Established in 2002, the Office of Emergency Management:
Individuals, families and businesses can support our community’s resiliency by doing their part in being personally prepared for up to 72 hours and ensuring their emergency plans and business continuity plans are in place.

During a disaster or major emergency, the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) brings together representatives from the City of Edmonton and the emergency response community to strategically coordinate resources in support of response and recovery activities.
The Emergency Support Response Team (ESRT) is an operational unit within the Office of Emergency Management. ESRT provides support to people displaced from their homes during an emergency or disaster, addressing immediate needs such as shelter, food and clothing.
Depending on the type and the severity of the emergency, ESRT may activate reception centres for citizens displaced from their homes.
If a Reception Centre established in your area or community, and you live in the affected area, it is IMPORTANT to personally register – even if you do not require assistance and choose to stay with family or friends. Emergency responders use the registration process to ensure all affected residents are accounted for and safe.
The City Manager is the Director of the Agency, which consists of the Director, Office of Emergency Management, the members of the City's Executive Leadership Team, the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief.
The Mayor is the Chair and all members of Council are members of the Emergency Management Advisory Committee.
