Workers at railway tracksRefined data collection and a better knowledge of the City’s asset base have provided a complete picture of the state and condition of Edmonton’s infrastructure. Prioritizing funding for infrastructure projects, however, is a challenge Council and Administration face, especially when comparing “hard” and “soft” assets, such as transit and parks.

The Office of Infrastructure and Funding Strategy has developed and refined a set of unique management tools to help Council and Administration better assess required infrastructure investments.

These innovative tools help Council prioritize investment levels in infrastructure in order to maintain and replace existing infrastructure while dealing with increased demands to support growth.
