Ellerslie Road Widening
115 Street to 91 Street
The steady increase in traffic volume on Ellerslie Road is mainly due to rapid residential and commercial development in the area. To meet increased travel demands now and in the future, the Transportation Department has widened Ellerslie Road from two to four lanes between 91 Street and 115 Street. Other upgrades include:
- Intersection signalization (at 109 Street/Blackmud Creek Drive and the commercial entrance intersection west of 111 Street)
- A second bridge over the Blackmud Creek
- Multi-use trail and walkway connections
- Landscaping
These improvements will provide better traffic flow and minimize peak hour congestion.
Construction began in the Spring of 2007 and will end during the 2009 construction season. There are some construction activities remaining along Ellerslie Road, between 101 Street and 91 Street.
