34 St. Urbanization
About the Project
Ultimately, 34 Street has been designed as a four lane divided road with a shared use path along the west side of the road. As part of the 2010 Construction Program, the City of Edmonton will reconstruct the first two lanes of 34 Street between 23 Avenue and the Anthony Henday Drive fly-over.
2010 Construction will include:
- Improvements to the roadway and drainage lines
- Landscaping
- Multi-use trail construction
Timeline
Construction of the west two lanes will begin May, 2010 and is expected to be completed October, 2010. The 2 east lanes and shared use path have been included in the design so they can be constructed in the future when the area is developed traffic volumes require the full 4 lane road.
Stay Informed
On February 9, the City held a Public Information Session to provide information and answer questions about upcoming improvements to 34 Street and project timelines.
