Potholes

City crews work hard year round patching potholes to maintain seasonably smooth driving conditions.
Potholes form when water gets into road cracks, and after repeated freezing and thawing, breaks up the pavement. Water can also saturate the pavement's base layer weakening its ability to support the traffic.
Older roads are more susceptible to having potholes because heavy traffic and aging infrastructure causes cracking.
Pothole Repairs
Each spring crews work 24 hours per day and 7 days a week to quickly repair potholes. Major roads with higher traffic volumes and higher speeds have repair priority.
Always drive with extreme caution when approaching or passing a pothole repair crew.
