Neighbourhood Renewal is scheduled for the Newton neighbourhood in 2018.  Prior to the start of construction, several meetings will be held to inform residents of the project details and plans for the neighbourhood.  Below are any materials that were presented or distributed at those meetings, as well as any notices.

Pre-Construction Meeting - February 2018

On Thursday February 8, City representatives hosted an open house to provide detailed information regarding the final design including pedestrian and cycling improvements, what to expect during construction and the local improvement process for the Newton neighbourhood reconstruction project.

Montrose-Newton Proposed Shared-Use Path

During public engagement for Montrose and Newton Neighbourhood Renewal projects, the City heard from residents about developing a formalized asphalt trail and lighting along the berm that runs south of Yellowhead Trail between 50 Street and 66 Street. The City is sharing its concept plan to gather additional feedback that will influence the trail design.

Meeting Two - March 14, 2017

On Tuesday March 14, 2017 City representatives presented detailed information regarding the preliminary design, construction timelines, and the local improvement process, options and related costs for the Newton neighbourhood renewal project.

Meeting One – October 4, 2016

The Building Great Neighbourhoods team met with the Newton Community League Executive to share the City’s plans to renew and replace sanitary and storm sewers, reconstruct roads, curbs and sidewalks on City-owned property, and replace streetlights starting in 2018.
