Quesnell Bridge Transit Changes
The first phase of construction to expand Quesnell Bridge starts March 1, 2009 and it will have a major effect on bus service to and from west Edmonton.
Schedule Changes
10 minutes has been added to the travel time for buses traveling west from Belgravia Road and 122 Street to west Edmonton during the following times:
- Routes 104, 105, 138
Weekday peak hours - Route 4
Weekday peak, midday and early evening

10 minutes has been added to the travel time for buses traveling north from Whitemud Drive and 53 Avenue to west Edmonton during the following times:
- Route 33
Weekday peak, midday and early evening
Saturday midday
Buses traveling from the West End to Belgravia Road and 122 Street will not have routing changes but will likely have some delays due to the traffic.
Routing Changes
The ramp from Fox Drive onto the Quesnell Bridge westbound will be closed. Westbound buses will be detoured onto Whitemud Drive south to the 53 Avenue overpass where they will loop to reverse direction and travel back across the bridge towards 149 Street and beyond.
Westbound buses will be detoured onto Whitemud Drive south to the 53 Avenue overpass where they will loop to reverse direction and travel back across the Quesnell Bridge.
NOTE: Only buses and emergency vehicles will be able to travel west on Fox Drive from Belgravia Road. All other traffic will be detoured to Whitemud Drive via 122 Street.
Route 106
Service on Route 106 will be split into two pieces to ensure that the West Edmonton Mall-Lessard portion is not affected by delays during the construction. The Lessard-West Edmonton Mall portion will operate independently from the Capilano-West Edmonton Mall portion EXCEPT during the weekday morning peak period. This temporary split in the route has been designed to ensure that the West Edmonton Mall-Lessard portion is not affected by delays from the Quesnell Bridge construction. Passengers arriving at West Edmonton Mall from the University will need to transfer to Route 106-Lessard or Route 2-Lessard to continue their trips to Lessard.
These changes will be in effect during March and April 2009.
The opening of South Campus LRT Station in April will result in further service changes which will be communicated separately.
