Devonian Botanic Gardens
In collaboration with the University of Alberta Devonian Botanic Garden, ETS is pleased to provide our Platinum Cruiser for Garden Express Tours this summer. The tours are available on Wednesdays from May to September.
These tours have been designed for groups of active seniors, providing transportation to and from the Garden, senior’s admission, tram tour of the main garden and homemade buffet lunch. There’s also free time for participants to enjoy the various parts of the Garden on their own including the indoor showhouses and outdoor garden displays.
Groups of 30-35 participants pay $39 per person while smaller groups of 25-29 pay $44 per person.
More information about the Garden Express Tours is available on http://www.devonian.ualberta.ca/ or by calling 780-987-3054.
Summer Service Changes
During the summer months, it’s not unusual to see a reduction in ridership on ETS. Schools are closed for summer vacation and many Edmontonians take time away from work in July and August.
Starting June 28, we’ll be making changes to our service to make it more compatible with customer demand. We will be cancelling trips with very low ridership (5 passengers or less) in the early morning and late night time periods.
Seasonal changes include removing school service for students and reducing the number of buses used for commuters during weekdays.
These summer service changes will be in effect until the end of August. Normal service resumes in September.
Check the ETS Trip Planner for more information on ETS summer service.
EDDIE Sightseeing Tours Return
ETS is once again part of the EDDIE Bus sightseeing tours this summer.
The EDDIE Bus travels to major attractions in the city from June 25 to September 7. Daily service is available from 11am - 7pm with the bus travelling the route on a two hour schedule.
Cost is $15 per person per day; children 12 and under ride free with an adult family member.
Tickets are available at TIX on the Square, at the attractions on the EDDIE Bus route, City of Edmonton Leisure Centres, major hotels and Visitor Information Centres.
For more information on this sightseeing tour bus call 1-800-463-4667.
Take ETS to Eskimo’s Football
Green & Go is back for its second year, giving Eskimo fans the ability to use their game day tickets to travel free on ETS to and from home games.
Riding on LRT or regular ETS service, your game day ticket is valid for two hours before and two hours after the game ends. It’s also your ticket to ride on ETS football Park & Ride service.
Thanks to this hugely successful program, the number of fans taking Park & Ride, LRT or regular ETS to the games has increased by approximately 30 percent. And that’s what the program has been designed to do.
The Green & Go program is a collaboration between the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Eskimos to reduce football parking pressure in the surrounding neighbourhoods, reduce traffic congestion and improve pedestrian safety around Commonwealth Stadium. It’s good for the environment, and considering the current price of gas, it’s good for your wallet too.
Enjoy the game, and remember to keep your ticket stub for your return trip.
Environment Week Activities
ETS is celebrating Canadian Environment Week (May 31-June 6) by partnering with City of Edmonton Transportation Planning and Climate Change Central to promote active and sustainable travel options. Visit us at our interactive/educational display at various downtown locations including Commerce Place, Enterprise Square and TELUS Tower.
Celebrate Clean Air Day on June 3 by joining us for the Annual Commuter Race and Clean Air Day Breakfast. The Commuter Race begins at Parkallen Community League at 7:30am and finishes at City Hall. Breakfast is from 8am. to 9am.
Splash & Ride Passes
With the school year coming to a close, don’t forget to include the ETS Splash & Ride pass in your summer travel plans.
This is the 14th year of this popular co-promotion with Community Services, and it continues to grow.
Youth 17 and under can get unlimited transit travel and free admission to 12 City Leisure Centres (including Commonwealth Sports & Fitness Centre and Kinsmen Sports Centre) during public hours in July and August. Remember you can use the pass at Borden Park, Mill Creek and Oliver outdoor pools too.
Cost for the pass is $101. Passes are available in June at the ETS Customer Services Centre in Churchill LRT Station, at any City of Edmonton Leisure Centre or online.
The Splash & Ride pass is designed to provide an economical summer travel option for youth, plus free access to City Leisure Centres for recreational swimming and use of fitness centres (where available - some restrictions apply).
For more information call 780-496-SWIM or 311 or check ETS Trip Planner.
South Campus Station Access
Following the opening of South Campus LRT Station, we’ve had customer enquiries about station access other than that provided by bus or train.
South Campus was designed as a pedestrian oriented station to accommodate future expansion by the U of A around the site.
Pedestrians and cyclists can access the station via the multi-use trail connecting all the South LRT stations from Health Sciences to Century Park. As well they can use 113 Street and 65 Avenue.
There is no parking or passenger drop off at South Campus LRT Station because there is no private vehicle access to the station.
