The Every Day Way - To South Campus
Join the party train celebrating the opening of the South LRT Extension on April 25!
You’re invited to travel on the first public train to the new McKernan/Belgravia and South Campus LRT Stations. You’ll be joining representatives from the Federal and Provincial governments, City Council and other dignitaries for the celebrations.
The first train leaves Health Sciences/Jubilee Station at 9:30am, stopping at McKernan/Belgravia and South Campus LRT Stations for special ceremonies. Free special event LRT service runs from 11:30am - 6pm between Clareview and South Campus stations on Saturday.
And while you’re at South Campus, take in the first ETS Community Fair, presented as part of the opening celebrations. There are lots of free activities for the entire family.
Regular LRT service to South Campus starts Sunday, April 26.
Celebrate at the ETS Community Fair
Come celebrate with us as ETS hosts our first Community Fair event on Saturday, April 25 as part of the official opening of McKernan/Belgravia and South Campus LRT stations. The event runs from 9:30am - 5pm at the South Campus Transit Centre.
This free family event includes the opening ceremonies for the McKernan/Belgravia and South Campus LRT Stations and features presentations, information and vehicle displays, ETS facility tours, South LRT construction tours, family activities and entertainment.
There’s a free shuttle bus service to the Community Fair from University Transit Centre from 9am - 12 noon. The LRT will operate to South Campus Station following the official opening ceremonies, until 6pm.
The Community Fair is brought to you by the City of Edmonton and ETS, with sponsorship by the University of Alberta.
Be TraXSafe
Safety around the LRT system is important to ETS particularly with the opening of the surface extension between Health Sciences/Jubilee and South Campus stations.
The TraXSafe program we’ve developed has been designed to familiarize local communities, schools and organizations with pedestrian and traffic movements along the South LRT Extension.
LRT trains move quickly and quietly, and can come from either direction on any track.
Stay safe by obeying all signs and signals.

Easter Service
We’ve modified our service for this year’s Easter Holiday. You can find all your travel information on the special Easter service hanger on the buses in late March.
Easter transit service information is available by calling 311. These phone lines are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. You can also check the ETS Trip Planner or call BusLink at 780-496-1600.
On Good Friday, April 10, all ETS routes will be running on regular Sunday schedules.
Regular weekend schedules apply on Saturday and Easter Sunday.
On Easter Monday, April 13, we’ll be operating modified service schedules. Both the AM and PM peak period service schedules have been adjusted to address the travel requirements of customers who will be working on Easter Monday.
The ETS Customer Services Centre, including Lost & Found will be closed during the holiday.
South Campus Service Changes
The opening of the South Campus LRT Station and Transit Centre will result in a number of route changes for customers traveling towards the University and Downtown, from both the south and west parts of Edmonton.
Many of the routes destined for University and Downtown will end at South Campus Transit Centre, with a transfer to the LRT. These routes have been redesigned to feed into the LRT system, removing bus service that duplicates the LRT service.
Schedules have been adjusted to provide convenient transfers from bus to train.
Routes traveling to South Campus Transit Centre from west Edmonton and the Rvierbend/Terwillegar areas will also be taking advantage of the new bus lanes on Fox Drive and Belgravia Road, improving service speed and reliability.
Riverbend/Terwillegar Service Change
There will be major changes to transit routes and schedules in the Riverbend/Terwillegar neighbourhoods starting April 26. Canada Post will be delivering a special brochure in late March that highlights the changes.
Neighbourhood growth combined with the opening of the Leger Transit Centre and South Campus LRT Station and Transit Centre have resulted in the need to change bus routes to provide more effective and efficient service to the area. Input from neighbourhood open houses in October was incorporated into the planning for the service changes.
Local routes have been restructured to use the new Leger Transit Centre at Leger Road and 23 Avenue. It will also be used by students from nearby Lillian Osbourne High School as well as the future recreation centre and catholic high school.
South Campus LRT Station will provide quick and easy access to the University, Downtown and points north. As a result, all existing University-bound buses will travel to south Campus Transit Centre for transfers to the LRT.
April Service Changes
ETS will be making major changes to service starting April 26, 2009 as the McKernan/Belgravia and South Campus LRT Stations come into service, and the Leger Transit Centre in the Riverbend/Terwillegar area opens. Look for a special service changes brochure on all buses.
The regular seasonal adjustments related to the end of NAIT, MacEwan and University sessions will also go into effect.
The Winter U-Pass expires in April, but students attending summer sessions (May - August) can purchase ETS post secondary monthly passes. The new Fall U-Pass will be available for sale on campuses in August.
