When an independent developer begins a residential or commercial project they also develop the roadways to accommodate any traffic impact from the future development. These projects are funded and managed exclusively by the developer. It is the City of Edmonton’s responsibility to ensure the developers are complying with the approved standards and specifications.

  Project Phase
Project Lifecycle - Concept Stage Phase 1 : Concept
In the Concept Phase, all aspects of the project are developed and assessed. The scope of the project is developed and concept plans are drawn up.
Project Lifecycle - Design Stage Phase 2 : Design
The Design Phase is important to finalize all of the strategies developed in the Concept Phase. All design details and construction methods are defined and identified and a project plan is finalized for approval.
Project Lifecycle - Build Stage Phase 3 : Build
In the Build Phase, projects are either awaiting the start of construction or construction is underway. The construction is carried out by the Developer, however the City takes an active role in monitoring the work being completed to ensure that it adheres to the approved design plan and the City standards.
