A service to assist Edmonton residents who have difficulty getting their recycling or garbage to the curb or lane.
The City’s Waste Management Services offers an assisted waste collection service for customers who cannot get their recycling or garbage to the curb or lane. Assisted waste collection promotes independent living and reduces the risk for dangerous slips and falls caused by icy or wet conditions.
Collectors will pick up garbage and recycling from outside the front or back door of the home. There is no additional charge for this service.
The service will be provided for a minimum of three months and for as long as you have the need. It is your responsibility to let us know if you no longer need the service by contacting Waste Management Services at 780-496-5698.
The collector will pick up the same materials that are collected from all households and the same regulations will apply.
Recycling must be in blue bags and garbage can be in a bag (not blue) or container. Each container must be no larger than 100 litres. Each bag or container should weigh no more than 20 kg (44 lbs).
Complete the Assisted Waste Collection - Application Form.
We will contact you by telephone within one week of receiving your application. The application process includes a home visit where customer service staff can help determine the best location for setting out your garbage and recycling, as well as set a start date for your service.
