Building Community Through Recreation engages people and builds social cohesion through networks, generating healthy, inclusive communities.

Building Community Through Recreation is an inspirational framework that views neighbourhoods as critical infrastructure for sustainable recreational programing.

Recreation has the ability to break down barriers so that everyone can participate, improving the quality of life for all Edmontonians.

Community recreation ranges from neighbourhood organizations running their own programs and services, to the City supporting neighbourhood organizations and programs, to neighbourhood organizations working together to address a need.

The City uses a community development approach in the delivery of neighbourhood based recreation programs.

Edmonton is fortunate to have a wealth of recreation providers within neighbourhoods who the City can support and bring together to realize this goal of providing quality recreation opportunities for the community.

Neighbourhood Recreation Networks

City sponsored gatherings where recreation providers discuss local programming, share information and make connections in neighbourhoods.
