Community Revitalization Levy FAQ
- What is a baseline assessment?
- What is an incremental assessment?
- Will my taxes be more because my property is located in a Community Revitalization Levy area?
- 1. What is a baseline assessment?
The baseline assessment is the taxable (subject to education property tax) assessed value of the property as of December 31, 2011. The value of property that is exempt from taxation will be recorded as $0 for a baseline assessment.
- 2. What is an incremental assessment?
It is the increase in taxable assessed value above the baseline assessment. This amount will be subject to the Community Revitalization Levy (CRL). If the annual taxable assessment in any year is less than the baseline assessment, then the incremental assessment will appear as zero.
- 3. Will my taxes be more because my property is located in a Community Revitalization Levy area?
The formation of a Community Revitalization Levy (CRL) area does not change the total amounts collected in municipal and education property taxes. Your total property tax bill will be the same as it would be if your property was located outside the CRL boundary.
