Budgeting
City of Edmonton Chief Financial Officer Craig Warnock provided an overview of where the City gets its Operating funds from and where those funds are spent in the 2009 budget. He also showed where the City gets its Capital funds from and how those funds were invested in the 2009 budget.
Transportation
Adam Laughlin, Director of Strategic Planning Transportation, provided an overview of the Transportation Master Plan -- LRT Planning Status. Panelists heard that Calgary's more extensive LRT system enjoys over 200,000 riders each weekday compared to Edmonton's system which has 30 km less track, less stations, less cars and about one quarter of the ridership of Calgary. He showed the LRT network plan that would see the LRT extended to all quadrants of the city.
