Flying Eagle Program

To spark the interest of  all children who might benefit from learning about the Aboriginal culture and heritage, the Flying Eagle program is offered at some Green Shack playground programs over the summer. The Flying Eagle program is designed around the Aboriginal teachings of the Medicine Wheel.

Children aged 6 - 12 who visit Green Shacks in Edmonton can participate in recreational activities based on Aboriginal culture, including baking bannock, making dream catchers, beading and dancing as well as respect for Mother Earth.

City recreation staff will talk to children from different cultures about traditional Aboriginal teachings. This increases intercultural awareness and builds understanding among children from diverse cultural backgrounds. By connecting children with their heritage, we help them thrive and realize their potential.

There is no charge for the program, and everyone is welcome.
