Pet Licences
Pet licences are affordable, available online, and ensure that the City can contact you if we find your pet.
All cats and dogs six months and older must be licensed. The fine for having an unlicensed animal is $250.
Getting a Pet Licence
Pet licenses can be purchased and renewed a few ways:
- Online
- By fax or mail (see our Animal Licence Brochure for details)
- In person at the Animal Services Facility at 12515 - 128 Street or on the 5th floor of HSBC Bank Place at 10250 – 101 Street.
Licences expire one year from the date of issue.
Updating a Pet Licence
Please notify us either online or by calling 311 if you no longer have your pet, are moving, or have new contact information. You can also provide us with your pet's new tattoo or microchip information.
Keeping your pet licence information up to date ensures that if we find your pet, we can easily identify them and contact you quickly.
Pet Licence Fees
The pet licence fee structure encourages owners to spay or neuter their pets, to reduce the high number of unwanted cats and dogs.
If you are a senior citizen or on social assistance, you qualify for a half-price pet license. This rate applies to only one cat or dog per residence, and the pet must be spayed or neutered.
| Cats | Dogs | |
|---|---|---|

| Spayed/Neutered | $15 | $29 |
| Non-spayed/non-neutered | $67 | $67 |

*The free first year licence does not apply to restricted dogs.
