The Asian longhorned beetle (
Anoplophora glabripennis) is native to Northeast Asia and is a serious pest of hardwood trees (maples, elms, poplars, willows, etc.).
Adults are large bluish-black beetles (2. 5 to 3. 5 cm in length) with white spots and very long antennae.
What's the Problem?
This insect attacks and kills healthy trees. It has no known natural enemies in Canada.
