Election Sign Recycling
Election campaign signs are accepted for recycling at the
Edmonton Waste Management Centre
13111 – Meridian (1st) Street NE (1 km north of Hwy 16 East)
Open 7:30am to 7pm, Monday to Friday
8am to 5pm, Saturday, Sunday, and statutory holidays
Recycling Requirements
All sign materials must be sorted into the following categories at the EWMC:
- Bin for corrugated plastic (coroplast) signs
- Bin for cardboard signs and cardboard supports
- Bin for film plastic (plastic bag signs slipped over an armature)
- Drop off area for metal stakes
- Drop off area for wood stakes/supports
There is no charge if the signs and related materials are sorted into separate bins as noted above. You must tell the scalehouse attendant that you have election signs otherwise you will be charged the regular refuse rate.
Fees
- Loads of mixed materials that are not sorted into appropriate locations will be charged $55/tonne (minimum $16).
- Large signs must be cut into pieces no larger than 3' x 3' (1m x 1m).
