Big Bin Events
Big Bin Events allow residents to dispose of household items too large for regular collection at no cost.
Twelve of the weekend long events are held each year from Spring to Fall at various locations throughout the city.
The 2011 Big Bin Events ended in late September. Approximately 2,096 tonnes of material - the equivalent weight of 151 ETS buses - was accepted at the 2011 events. Material that otherwise might have been improperly disposed of in the river valley, parks and neighbourhoods.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time at an event or simply participated by bringing down their unwanted large household waste items.
Check back for next year's Big Bin Event dates in April 2012.
Did you know?
Scrap metal, tires, large appliances, cardboard, televisions, computers and electronic items accepted at Big Bin Events are collected and sent to recyclers to be made into new products.
