Requirements
The City's lot grading standards require that all lots in new subdivisions conform to an approved Surface Drainage Plan (Lot Grading Plan). Approval for grading must be obtained at two stages during lot development. Generally, the homebuilder is responsible for obtaining Rough Grade Approval, and the homeowner is responsible for the Final Grade Approval.

- Backfill at Back of Concrete Walks or Paved Lanes
- Downspouts
- Sump Pump Discharge
- Splash Pads
- Discharge Points
- Grading for Detached Garages or Building
- Lot Grading Certificates
- Lake, Ravine, or Top of Bank Lots
- Sprinkler Systems
- Grade Differential
- Maintenance and Enforcement
Note: When purchasing a home, you should check that the lot grading meets approval. Drainage Services will only release this information upon receiving a written request from a law or realty firm.
