ICS 100: Introduction to Incident Command System
Course Description
ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System.
Intended Audience
This course is intended for, but not limited to:
- City personnel with a role in the EOC
- Partner agencies, such as Capital Health Region, EPCOR and ATCO
- Non-government agencies such as Salvation Army, Canadian Red Cross
- Volunteer organizations such as ARES
- Police, fire and EMS responders
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this course, you should be able to:
- Identify three purposes of the Incident Command System (ICS)
- Identify requirements to use ICS
- Describe the basic features of the Incident Command System (ICS)
- Describe the role and function of the Incident Commander and Command Staff
- Describe the roles and functions of the Operations, Planning, Logistics and Finance/Administration Sections
- Describe the six basic ICS facilities
- Describe common responsibilities at an incident
