Firefighter Recruitment Aptitude Test
To succeed in the demanding fire-rescue environment, firefighters must have specific skills. The aptitude test content areas are:
- Reading and understanding written information
- Numerical skills
- Maps, diagrams, and mechanical reasoning
- Teamwork, public relations, and community living
Applicants will be advised of the date and time of the aptitude test. It is a 2-hour, multiple choice, computer-scored test. A fire rescue service testing company analyzes the overall results to determine scoring.
Non-refundable money order for $50 testing fee, payable to the City of Edmonton (cheque or cash will not be accepted), will be required at the Aptitude Test.
There will be no re-writes. A grouping of the highest-ranked applicants who passed the test will advance to the next stage of the recruitment process.
Note: The firefighter recruitment process is subject to change.
