Drainage Master Plan

City Council approved the Drainage Master Plan 2004-2014 on January 20, 2004, providing direction for Drainage Services for the next ten years. Following a review of the previous plan established in 1991, the 2004-2014 Master Plan identifies 23 issues and groups them into four categories: customers, growth, technology and regulatory.

To address these issues, 13 strategies were developed in 2003:

Sanitary Servicing

Combined Sewer Overflow Control

Interconnection Control

Stormwater Servicing

Stormwater Quality

Sewer & Drainage System Upgrading (Transmission System Upgrading)

Infrastructure Rehabilitation

Wastewater Treatment Master Plan

Environmental Management System

Regional Wastewater Servicing

Depreciation

Drainage Information Management Systems

Odour Control

The 2004-2014 Drainage Master Plan provides the opportunity to set priorities for the remaining issues to meet Edmonton's service quality expectations and protect the North Saskatchewan River.
