ACTV Webisodes
ACTV
Active Citizens Television (ACTV) is an Alberta-based, non-profit, youth-driven new media initiative aimed to educate, motivate and "ACTV-ate" Albertans to discover and pursue sustainable living practices and promote ecological consciousness.
These webisodes feature Edmontonians who are incorporating sustainable measures in their everyday lives.
Funding was provided by the City of Edmonton as part of the ICLEI Community Programme, developed to encourage and support community-based initiatives, events and activities focused on the environment.
Episode 1
This episode features Jessie Radies, owner of Blue Pear restaurant and founder of Original Fare, and Carissa deJong, a passionate loca-vore. They discuss the benefits of eating a lo-cal and lo-carb(on) diet on your body, spirit, and community. So don’t go loco, go local!
Episode 2
As a hero of the Zero, Conrad Nobert is a passionate green leader who hates waste. In order to reduce the waste he and his family produce, Conrad is currently building Edmonton’s second net-zero energy house.
He shares his construction advice with ACTV, and blogs about his experience with the hopes of encouraging readers to make their own sustainable lifestyle choices.
Episode 3
In this episode we meet amateur astronomer Bruce McCurdy. Bruce has seen the light – both good and bad – watching as a fog of artificial light gradually degrades the night sky over the 22 years he has volunteered at Telus World of Science Edmonton’s Observatory.
