Sportsfield Marking Program
The Sportsfield Marking Program is a service provided by Parks Branch for the marking of Football, Soccer and Rugby Fields.
The Program does NOT include marking foul lines on baseball/softball fields.
Parks operations staff will begin the 2011 rectangular field-marking program (weather depending) on May 2. Marking priorities include booked premier, playoffs (city, provincial, etc), priority lists supplied by zone, league, phys-ed consultants and total hours booked. Marking requests require a minimum of two weeks notice and are completed in the order received with the funding available. The City also provides marking paint to various community organizations for their booked soccer programs and to private citizens through the Loan Out Program.
The permanent field marking program will operate in July and August only as per pesticide application guidelines.
In order to serve you better, we are asking each zone’s rectangular field allocator to submit a list of the game fields, critical to their program that they would like permanently marked for this season. It is important to prioritize this list and also to not include those fields marked in the previous year's program, as they should be clearly visible from last year.
Lists and requests for marking must be submitted 10 business days prior to the event and can be directed to 311.
¼ Mile Track Markings
Parks maintenance staff may mark (paint only) tracks on schoolyard turf at the cost to do the work, providing that the marking causes no overlap confusion with other sports field markings and resources are available to do the work. Arrangements to mark existing ¼ mile shale tracks will be considered by request only.
Requests must be made at least 10 school days prior to the event and can be directed to 311.
Line Marker Workshop
Groups wishing to borrow air pressurized line markers must first attend the field-lining workshop. To register for the workshop please call 311.
Borrowing of Parks Line Markers
Marking machines along with athletic field marking paint (pre mixed) will be available for loan to users. The number of fields being marked by the group and the district will determine the amount of paint given out. Dry field marking machines (chalk not included) can also be loaned to users.
When cleaning the marking machine, please remember the environment and be considerate of others.
Because you are marking your field on public land, the use of any chemicals is strictly prohibited by provincial legislation and subject to penalty.
To borrow a line marker in your area please call 311.
Note: No vehicles are allowed on any playing field or turf area at any time.
